He served as Counsel for TeachersInsurance and Annuity Association ofAmerica and later conducted his own legalpractice in Estates and Trusts Law in hishometown of Garden City, Long Island, NY.In his village he served on many volunteercommittees and ultimately was elected aTrustee and then Mayor of the Village ofGarden City. His wife of 53 years is MiriamCollins and they have four children, allsuccessful business executives in the worldof technology. His Bachelor of Arts Degree is from Fordham Universityand LL.D. and LL.M degrees were awarded to him by Brooklyn Law School.After college he rose to the rank of Captain in the United States ArmysTransportation Corps and served in New Orleans, Houston, Newfoundlandand Greenland in support of Americas Distant Early Warning System duringthe Korean War. Dicks writing skills existed from his high school years at DonBosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, NJ and in the years following hismilitary service when he was introduced to the world of advertising withthe firm of Donahue and Coe and later served as Managing Editor of TheContractor, a national trade magazine. His first book, Saints Arent Angels,is a novel set in 1845-50 Turin, Italy where Saint John Bosco established hisfirst Oratorio for the education of that citys poor boys.
